Badger and the Bear Outdoor Adventure Camp

We've combined Fitness and Wild Camping to give you the Ultimate Outdoor Survival Experience

Joanne Bond, fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer of 17 years and Nick Fenwick, former Royal Marines Commando have teamed up together to give you an incredible opportunity to experience fitness and outdoor adventure at it's best! Set in the countryside between Longframlington and Longhorsely, the scenery, landscape and environment make The Badger and The Bear Outdoor Adventure Camp the perfect location for a fitness adventure.

Our Mission

To provide a fun-filled, fitness weekend which incorporates a safe, wild-camping experience that will leave you feeling exhausted but exhilarated and appreciating the true beauty of the outdoors. 

What can you expect?

When arriving on Friday afternoon, you will be met by Nick, who will give you your survival pack containing your sleeping bag, blanket, torch, map, itinerary for the weekend and vital camp information along with a safety briefing. You will be shown to your A-Shelter or tent and given some time to take in the grounds.

Once settled into your camp and everyone has arrived, your first group Bootcamp session will begin with Joanne. You can expect these to be fun but challenging fitness games and activities that run across the entire Adventure Camp - you'll be clambering up hills, running through streams, carrying logs, flipping tyres and can expect time trials and team competitions over the weekend!

After Bootcamp, Nick will be cooking your locally sourced steaks and Baked Potatoes over the 'centre firepit' for you - this is an area where everyone can meet up, sit together and eat, chat and even have a couple of drinks if you wish.....but don't forget this all starts again tomorrow morning, sore head or not!!

Over the course of the weekend you can expect similar activities, starting with a healthy porridge for breakfast, a packed lunch to take with you on a 3 mile walk with Nick, more Bootcamps, Firepit Fun, Quest Trail (who can find the hidden treasure?!) and your final Bootcamp activity will take place before breakfast on Sunday morning. Note - As Badger and the Bear is situated on Thistleyhaugh Farm, Nick is able to use locally sourced food for many of the meals he cooks for you.

Whats included in the Price?

All of your main meals, activities, accommodation (this may be an A-Shelter or it could be a tent), hot drinks.

What would I need to bring?

You will need to bring along the following:

  • Changes of clothes - the Bootcamp sessions will have you crawling on the ground and will go ahead in all weather so you'll need multiple changes of warm, dry clothes

  • Warm nightwear and thick socks

  • Walking boots/shoes/wellies

  • Trainers (more than one pair if you have them)

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Snacks and drinks - bring plenty of water

  • Face cloth, soap, wipes, toilet roll

Things you may be wondering........

  • Are there toilets? Yes! Each camp has it's own flushable trail toilet. It is outdoors under a canopy (this is wild camping after all!) 

  • Are there showers? Yes! There are outdoor showers - again, this is a wild camping experience. If you can't face the cold then bring along some baby wipes :-)

  • Who is this suitable for? Any able-bodied adult who is fit and healthy and has an interest in fitness, fresh air and camping. Unfortunately the camp isn't suitable for wheelchair users.

  • Do I have to take part in ALL activities? Absolutely not. You can skip some of the sessions, stay at your camp, rest and enjoy the peace if you want to. You are also able to take a walk around the camp at your leisure during daylight.

  • Do I have to be very fit to take part? You will need some level of fitness to take part in this. If you already regularly participate in physical activity then you will be good to take part.  We would not recommend this for complete beginners or anyone with recent injuries or illnesses.

  • Will I have to share a camp with people I don't know? Not if you don't want to. Each 'camp' can sleep up to 8 people and we have 2 camps so there is a chance that you will be mixed with other people but we also have single tents for those who would prefer to sleep on their own. It's great to mix with others and sit around the campfire with your group at night but we understand if you'd prefer not to.

  • Can I bring children? Children are very welcome at Badger and the Bear usually but not on our Bootcamp weekends. We will have nets and equipment set up around the camp which would make it unsafe for children. We'd love for you to book up another weekend and bring them along though!

  • What time is arrival? You can arrive at the camp anytime after 3pm on Friday. The first bootcamp session will start at 5.30pm so we need to have everyone set up in their camps and ready to start before then. On Sunday you will be given breakfast and a bootcamp session before leaving at approx. 11am
